Pastoral Plan

INAUGURAL PARISH PASTORAL PLAN

The Parish Pastoral Plan is ready to be launched to the parish community. This plan examines in great detail the spiritual, liturgical and apostolic requirements of our parish.

In September 2007, the Combined Community Pastoral Council of the Burleigh Heads Parish approved that a Parish wide representative task group be formed to develop a Draft Parish Pastoral Plan for the consideration of the Combined Council. The task group includes Fr Pat Molony PP, Christopher Kennedy (Chair), Robert Smith (Miami Community representative), Leigh Follett (Burleigh Communities representative), Keith Linnane (Palm Beach representative), Mary Allan (Mudgeeraba Community representative), Keith Furniss (Minutes, Burleigh Heads Parish) and Cecilia Anning rsj and Chris Ehler (Ministry Development Officers - Faith & Life Vicariate, Brisbane Archdiocese).

In December 2007, the parishioners were surveyed as to the aspects of parish life they appreciated, things they believed needed to be introduced, modified, further developed and things they did not like. The survey was analysed by the Task Group to gain an appreciation of the priorities of the parish. These priorities were compared to the nine Core Values of the National Church Life Survey (2006), the Jesus Communion Mission vision, and the Nine Priorities, outlined to “Let Your Light Shine”, which was launched because of the Promulgation of Synod outcomes in 2003 by the Archbishop John Bathersby DD. As a consequence of the survey responses a Draft Parish Pastoral Plan has been written and is currently in it's initial consultation phase with the Combined Community Pastoral Council of the Burleigh Heads Parish.

Upon completion of this initial consultation phase the Task Group will then embark on a wide-ranging consultation phase to include all parishioners and other stakeholders, i.e. Marymount School, South Coast Deanery Pastoral Council, offices of the Archdiocese, Priests of the Deanery, Project Aurion Group, the wider community, Sacramental and RCIA groups, other religious groups, etc. This phase proposed to be completed by the end of 2008 at which time it is hoped the plan will be finalized and become part of parish life.

Proposed Dates for Consultation Forums

SEPT/ OCT

Task group to host forums at designated times throughout each mass centre.
This task group is the best group to decide times for all venues through out Sept/Oct.
These organized meetings will help Parish communities, better respond to issues that they feel personally strongly about, or feel have a high priority in Parish life.

Sunday 12 October -Burleigh Heads (after 7am Mass)

-Miami (after 9am Mass)

Sunday 19 October -Palm Beach (after 8am Mass)

-Burleigh Waters (after 9:30 Mass)

Sunday 26 October -Mudgeeraba (after 8:30am Mass)

DATES /TIMES /VENUES

All parish members should be encourage to attend a forum that best suits them. This would be a time for the faithful to respond with concerns and questions, that will guide their reflection and thought process. Thus give the task group members an on ground feel of what the parish is leaning towards and will help us better understand and process the draft response forms.

You are asked to read through the Pastoral Plan prayerfully and then print off and complete the attached Response Form.
